In a stunning turn of events, pop icon Taylor Swift finds herself caught in a bitter court battle between actress Blake Lively and actor-director Justin Baldoni.
This high-profile dispute centers on Lively’s allegations of sexual harassment and a toxic workplace against Baldoni, with Swift set to provide sworn testimony, while personal ties between the singer and Lively have frayed amid ongoing legal maneuvers and fresh accusations against Baldoni, as the Daily Mail reports.
The legal drama unfolded when Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni in December 2024, claiming misconduct on set, accusations he has firmly rejected.
Court records obtained by the Daily Mail reveal that Swift, at one time a close family friend and godmother to one of Lively’s children with actor Ryan Reynolds, is scheduled for a deposition during the week starting Oct. 20.
This testimony, pending judicial approval for a scheduling extension requested by Baldoni’s legal counsel, follows a ruling that came earlier in 2025.
That decision allowed Baldoni access to private messages between Swift and Lively related to the film It Ends With Us.
Baldoni’s team has pushed back against a deadline for evidence collection, citing Swift’s prior professional commitments as the reason for needing the specific deposition window.
Adding a layer of complexity, the once-strong friendship between Swift and Lively has crumbled over the course of 2025.
Sources indicate that since June, Swift has not responded to Lively’s efforts to reconnect.
In the wake of Swift’s announcement of her engagement to athlete Travis Kelce on Aug. 26, Lively offered no public congratulations.
An insider shared with the Daily Mail that Lively has now accepted the rift, choosing to focus on other priorities rather than attempting to mend ties at this juncture.
Further complicating matters for Baldoni, a sworn statement filed on Sept. 4 by Lively’s legal team introduced claims from an unnamed person alleging verbal mistreatment and negative encounters during a project tied to Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios.
According to the filing, this individual was barred from having Baldoni on set for much of the production and requested his exclusion from promotional activities, with a source suggesting they may testify against him in Lively’s upcoming trial.
In a related development, Lively has sought significant legal remedies, including punitive damages and attorney fees, in a recent federal court motion, arguing that a defamation suit by Wayfarer Studios was a baseless retaliation for her harassment claims.
The saga also saw Judge Lewis J. Liman dismiss Baldoni’s counterclaims for defamation and extortion against Lively, her publicist Leslie Sloane, Ryan Reynolds, and the New York Times on June 9, citing the privileged nature of Lively’s court filings. The intricate web of legal battles, personal estrangements, and new allegations continues to unfold, with Swift’s involvement drawing significant attention, while Lively persists in her fight against Baldoni and his company, and Baldoni faces mounting scrutiny from multiple fronts over his alleged conduct.
