Internal FBI resistance to Trump agenda persists, according to damning new report

Is the FBI still haunted by an anti-Trump bias nearly a year into the second term of President Donald Trump, the current president of the United States? A shocking new report suggests the answer is a resounding yes, painting a troubling picture of an agency at odds with its leadership.

A comprehensive document from the National Alliance of Retired and Active-Duty FBI Special Agents and Analysts, obtained by the New York Post, reveals deep-seated opposition within the FBI to the president’s policies under Director Kash Patel’s initial six months, as the Daily Caller reports.

This over-100-page analysis, subtitled “A Pulse Check of the First Six Months,” describes the bureau as a “rudderless ship.” It claims resistance to the administration’s agenda remains entrenched among employees. The findings are set to be presented to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees this week.

Internal Bias Undermines FBI Mission

An anonymous source in the report points to a pervasive issue within the agency’s ranks. The source alleges that personal opposition, dubbed “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” is widespread and hampers critical investigative work. This bias, the report argues, clouds judgment on complex cases.

According to the document, veteran staffers believe the FBI has grown overly political. Some openly express disdain for the president, even making inappropriate remarks about his administration. Sources trace this erosion of objectivity to the tenures of former Directors James Comey and Christopher Wray.

One source also criticized past hiring practices, claiming the agency favored candidates with progressive leanings, such as teachers, over those with law enforcement or military backgrounds. Could this explain the cultural shift? The report suggests it’s a root cause of today’s discord.

Pushback on Immigration Enforcement Orders

The report details significant internal friction over directives to support Immigration and Customs Enforcement in deporting unauthorized migrants. FBI personnel reportedly resisted, citing insufficient training and safety risks. They also argued these tasks strayed from standard agency protocols.

The overall reaction, per the report, showed resentment among the workforce. Many were unwilling to carry out the mission beyond minimal compliance. This reluctance raises questions about the FBI’s commitment to broader national security priorities under the current administration.

Further tension stems from President Trump’s executive order granting pardons or commutations to individuals tied to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol unrest. Some employees expressed outrage, with one claiming to fear retaliation from those pardoned or their ideological supporters.

Leadership Challenges for Director Patel

Director Kash Patel, in his first six months, faces criticism for lacking the experience needed for the role. One source in the report bluntly stated his shortcomings in both expertise and demeanor. This paints a challenging road ahead for reform efforts.

“[Patel] has neither the breadth of experience nor the bearing an FBI director needs to be successful,” one source remarked in the report.

Yet, isn’t it telling that critics focus on Patel’s resume while ignoring the entrenched resistance he’s up against? The White House stands firmly behind him, signaling confidence in his mission to restore the agency’s integrity against a tide of internal opposition.

White House Defends Patel’s Tenure

On Nov. 25, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed rumors from MS NOW about potentially replacing Patel over performance issues. She called the speculation baseless, reinforcing the administration’s support. This pushback shows a united front from the top.

“FBI Director Patel is a critical member of the President’s team, and he is working tirelessly to restore integrity to the FBI,” White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Contrast this with the FBI’s silence -- the agency offered no response to requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation. Does this quietude hint at internal disarray or a refusal to engage with the narrative? The American public deserves clarity on where the bureau stands.
