Rief described the property in stark terms.

Photographer Theodore Wilfred Gyi, known as Teddy, met her in the lobby. She said he cast the meeting as a high-class professional modelling shoot with serious money attached, then steered her upstairs for “paperwork” and privacy. He is a 4ft 11 Asian man in her account. Once inside, she said, the path out felt closed.
