Bondi Moves Commuted Inmates to Supermax Facility

Lorna Morales,
 November 23, 2025

Justice has taken a sharp turn with the transfer of two dangerous criminals to the toughest federal prison in the nation.

On Nov. 21, 2025, two former death row inmates, whose sentences were controversially commuted by former President Joe Biden, were relocated to the U.S. Penitentiary Administrative Maximum Facility in Florence, Colo., under the direction of Attorney General Pam Bondi, as Fox News reports.

This move, confirmed by the Justice Department on Nov. 22, 2025, targets two individuals with chilling records. One, a former New Orleans police officer dubbed "Robocop," orchestrated a murder, while the other committed a horrifying multi-state killing spree. Their crimes demand accountability, not leniency.

Cracking Down on Biden's Clemency

These transfers trace back to a contentious decision by Biden in December 2024, just before leaving office. He commuted the sentences of 37 death row inmates, a sweeping act that sparked outrage for its apparent disregard for victims. Many saw it as a desperate political gesture.

Critics have noted that Biden's clemency actions were far broader than those of President Barack Obama, who focused on nonviolent offenders with specific criteria. This blanket approach left families blindsided, with no prior notice of the last-minute decisions. The contrast couldn’t be starker.

In response, Attorney General Bondi, shortly after taking office in early 2025, issued a memo to restore some measure of justice for victims’ families. She met with them to hear their shock and frustration over the commutations. Her actions reflect a commitment to real consequences.

Supermax Transfers Signal Tough Stance

By February 2025, Bondi directed the Bureau of Prisons to reassess housing for these commuted inmates. This led to the ongoing transfers to ADX Florence, the only true federal supermax prison in the U.S. It’s a facility reserved for the worst of the worst.

Prior to the latest move on Nov. 21, 2025, eight other commuted inmates had already been sent to ADX since mid-September. With these two, the total now stands at 10. The Justice Department plans to relocate all 37 by early 2026.

ADX Florence houses notorious figures, from terrorist masterminds to cartel leaders. Placing these violent offenders there, under the strictest confinement, aligns with the security risks they pose. It’s a fitting response to their brutal histories.

Details of Heinous Crimes Emerge

One of the transferred inmates, a former New Orleans officer, was recorded by the FBI ordering the murder of a mother of three who dared file a brutality complaint. This emerged during a probe into a cocaine protection racket involving corrupt police. Such betrayal of trust is staggering.

The other inmate’s crimes are equally horrific, stalking an ex-girlfriend from Roanoke, Va., to Charlotte, N.C., setting her apartment ablaze with gasoline, and later shooting her in a Virginia street. The victim survived the fire with severe burns, only to face further terror. It’s pure evil.

“Two more monsters who plotted and violently murdered innocent people will spend the rest of their lives in our country’s most severe federal prison,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi. Her words capture the gravity of these crimes. Yet, one wonders if Biden’s team ever weighed such monstrous acts before commuting sentences.

Trump Administration Restores Accountability

Under President Donald Trump, the administration is working to undo the softer edges of Biden-era criminal justice reforms. Bondi’s focus on stricter conditions, despite the inability to reverse commutations, sends a clear message. Violent offenders won’t get a free pass on her watch.

The push for accountability isn’t just policy; it’s personal for victims’ families who felt ignored by the previous administration. Bondi’s emphasis on consequences over clemency aligns with a commonsense view that justice must protect society first. Progressive experiments shouldn’t trump public safety.

As more transfers to ADX loom in 2026, this story underscores a return to law-and-order priorities. The Trump administration’s stance offers a corrective to years of misguided leniency. It’s a reminder that justice delayed need not be justice denied.
