Hold onto your hats, folks -- House Republicans are sounding the alarm on a blatant partisan hijacking of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation to smear political opponents.
This week House Oversight Committee Republicans issued a memo accusing Democrats of twisting the Epstein probe into a political weapon against President Donald Trump, ignoring justice for victims, as Fox News reports.
The saga began with a bipartisan commitment to transparency, as the House Oversight Committee launched a probe into Epstein’s crimes. But this noble effort quickly descended into a partisan quagmire, with each side pointing fingers at the other’s motives.
Republicans on the committee, in a 10-page internal memo, charged Democrats with abusing the investigation. They claim the focus has shifted from victims’ closure to a witch hunt targeting President Trump.
The memo, crafted by GOP staff for panel lawmakers and obtained by Fox News Digital, details claims that Democrats have allegedly distorted facts. It accuses them of misrepresenting witness accounts and selectively editing released materials to push a false narrative.
Democrats, for their part, have countered that Republicans are merely shielding President Trump, an acknowledged past associate of Epstein. Yet, no evidence has tied the president to any misconduct, a point he has repeatedly emphasized.
The GOP majority has made public thousands of pages from the Department of Justice and Epstein’s estate, championing openness for victims’ sake. However, these documents neither confirm nor refute whether President Trump knew of Epstein’s criminal activities.
The memo highlights a deposition from former Attorney General Bill Barr, which Republicans say absolves Trump of involvement in the probe’s scope. They accuse Ranking Member Robert Garcia (D-CA) of twisting Barr’s words to suggest limited insight into the case.
Further, the memo alleges Democrats leaked just three emails from a trove of roughly 23,000 Epstein estate documents in early November 2025. This selective disclosure, Republicans argue, was crafted to paint President Trump in a damaging light.
Republicans also claim Democrats obscured key context by redacting information, including the identity of the late Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre, who reportedly saw no wrongdoing by Trump. Additional redactions in emails about Giuffre’s allegations against others allegedly skewed their meaning.
The GOP memo states, "Democrats also redacted ‘she was the one that accused prince andrew’ in another Epstein email. By making this redaction, Democrats took away important context in the email that named Virginia Giuffre, who worked at Mar-a-Lago, made allegations against Prince Andrew, and was recruited by Ghislaine Maxwell in the parking lot."
How curious that Democrats cherry-pick details to fit a narrative while ignoring broader context. If transparency is the goal, why hide facts that don’t align with their apparent agenda against President Trump?
The memo notes Democrats leaked Epstein’s “birthday book” entries mentioning Trump but omitted a message linked to former President Bill Clinton. It also faults Democrats for not aiding efforts to question the Clintons, despite 2025 subpoenas, while only Trump associates have testified.
On Sunday, President Trump urged GOP support for a bipartisan bill to release all DOJ Epstein files, via a Truth Social post stating, “We have nothing to hide, and it's time to move on from this Democrat Hoax.” Isn’t it telling that while Democrats play games, Trump pushes for full disclosure?
As a House vote looms two days after the memo’s date, led by a discharge petition from Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Ro Khanna (D-CA) GOP leaders had resisted, citing potential harm to victims. Yet, with President Trump’s backing, the tide may turn toward unmasking the full truth.
