Hunter Biden faces new court battle over alleged failure to pay child support

In a troubling legal development out of Arkansas, Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, is accused of refusing to communicate with his 7-year-old daughter, Navy Joan Roberts, prompting her mother to seek judicial intervention.

Court documents filed Wednesday reveal that Lunden Roberts, 34, has reopened a 2019 child support case, alleging that Biden, 55, has failed to honor a 2023 settlement agreement and is seeking to have him jailed for non-compliance. This case centers on Biden's alleged refusal to engage with Navy and his failure to provide artworks she selected as part of their agreement.

The issue has sparked significant debate among conservatives, who see this as yet another example of personal irresponsibility from a figure long tied to controversy. Many argue that Biden's actions reflect a broader pattern of entitlement, especially given his past legal troubles and presidential pardon.

Hunter Biden's Alleged Refusal to Communicate

According to the court filings, Roberts has repeatedly attempted to facilitate contact between Biden and Navy, referred to as MC1 in documents, but claims he has consistently declined to respond, as the New York Post reports. This alleged silence began after a period of positive interaction, including bonding over art.

The filing details that Biden and Navy initially spoke several times over calls, laying the foundation for a father-daughter relationship. However, communication reportedly ceased after Roberts published her book, "Out of the Shadows: My Life Inside the Wild World of Hunter Biden," in 2023.

Roberts asserts in the documents that this sudden halt, described as Biden having "ghosted" Navy at age 5, has caused the child significant emotional distress. One poignant example cited is Navy's realization during a family wedding that she may never share traditional father-daughter moments.

Settlement Terms Under Dispute

Under the 2023 court-ordered agreement, Biden was required to provide Navy with a specified number of his paintings, chosen by her. Yet, the filing claims she received artworks selected by Biden himself, not ones she picked, breaching the terms.

Roberts is now urging the judge to enforce this provision, emphasizing that these artworks represent Navy's only tangible link to her father and his family. She argues this connection is critical for the child's sense of identity and heritage. "[I] have reached out to Mr. Biden numerous times about MC1 asking to speak with him, but the defendant, in classic, classless form, refuses to respond," Roberts stated in the filing.

It's hard not to see a glaring inconsistency here—while Biden profits from his art, conservatives note he seemingly withholds even this small gesture from his own daughter. Shouldn't family obligations trump personal convenience, especially for someone with his resources?

Legal History and Pardon Controversy

Biden's past adds fuel to the conservative critique, as he denied paternity of Navy until a 2019 court-ordered DNA test confirmed it. Roberts also claims he feigned remorse to slash child support from $20,000 to $5,000 monthly, a move now under scrutiny as she seeks an increase.

Further complicating the narrative, Biden has a documented history of drug use and legal issues, including convictions for illegally owning a gun while using drugs and tax evasion. He was pardoned by his father, former President Joe Biden, before leaving office.

Conservatives point out the irony of such leniency from a presidential pardon while Biden allegedly neglects basic duties to his child. Under President Donald Trump, the current president of the United States, many expect a renewed focus on personal accountability over elite privilege.

Emotional Toll and Conservative Concerns

The emotional impact on Navy is heartbreaking, with court papers noting her longing to "be with her dad" in heaven, believing he "lives far away and is really busy." She has reportedly also begun realizing that she lacks the lifestyle of her half-siblings—Biden’s four other children from previous relationships.

For those on the right, this case underscores a deeper cultural concern: the erosion of family values among certain public figures. While lawyers for both parties declined immediate comment, the silence from Biden’s camp only amplifies questions about responsibility.

As this Arkansas case unfolds, conservatives hope it prompts a broader reckoning on how privilege often shields the well-connected from consequences. Navy’s story is a reminder that behind legal battles are real human costs, ones that no pardon can erase.
